© Afreepress (Lomé, the 27 nov. 2013) —The national syndicate of education’s workers of Togo (SYNTET) launched on Wednesday in Lome an « urgent » call to teachers to accept the propositions of the government, in order to "save" the school year 2013-2014.
This was during a press conference where the officials of SYNTET expressed their confidence on the good faith of the government and especially on the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Florent Maganawé including, whose resignation is asked since some time by USET.
« We urgently appeal all teachers to do the impossible to save this school year. Beyond the premiums that we are claiming, we must see these students who only seek to go to school. Today, we have a salary, we are graced with something more, we have to accept it and continue to seek the improvement of the working and living conditionsbof teachers », said Abaglo Ayité, the general secretary of SYNTET.
According to him, teachers are facing a government that has always made proposals, especially the Minister Florent Maganawé.
« He always comfort us that while he is at the head of the education department, he will do anything to improve the working and living conditions of teachers. We believe in the good faith of the government », he added.
The SYNTET is considering the premiums of the begining of term and the one of libraries and of incitement to work, allocated to teachers by the government.
This call from SYNTET comes on the eve of the beginning of the strike launched by the USET for the coming 28 and 29 November.
