World Bank: 15 billion offered to Togo for the building of internet lodging center

© Afreepress (Lomé, le 12 nov. 2013) —The access to new technological of information and communication will know improvement in Togo with the signature of a financial agreement between the minister of finance and economy Adji Oteth Ayassor and Madani Tall, transactional director at the world bank on Tuesday at lome, recorded Afreepress.

With a global amount of 30 million US dollars or 15 billion francs CFA, this agreement credit financing of the reginal program of west African development infrastructure of communication aims according to the minister to reach and improve internet connectivity and make electronical communication more performance.

With this financing, an internet lodging center will be built with national and international capacity. “WARCIP-Togo” main activity will be based on the building of a neutral lodging center opened and integrates internet exchange point (IXP) with national and regional vocation and a competitive access point with and international passing ship, pointed out the minister of finance.

For the representant of the World Bank, “Togo still suffers of a numerical gulf”. In June 2013, the penetration of the fixed lines in Togo has been estimated at 16.1 percent of housework to 23.2 percent in the sub-region.

The mobile penetration is estimated to 29.6 percent against 73.9 percent in the region. This will help to the increase of the GDP in Togo.
